Clozing in on Ebike and Motorbike Crime

Dear Resident,

OP CLOZE is a Hertfordshire operation around identifying and tackling Criminal and Anti-Social Behaviour committed by those that use any Powered Two Wheeler (PTW's) such as E-Bikes & Motorbikes in order to commit a crime, as well as targeting the offenders involved in organised thefts of PTW's in our area.

We need you to help us identify these people in the community so, that we can deal with them appropriately.

Any information is good information, but best information would hopefully include;

A photo or video of riders and their bikes

Where and When it happened

Any off-road routes that are frequently used

Any addresses or outdoor locations that the vehicles are stored

Any information about riders, if they are known

To make us aware of any information please;

Call 999 if there is an urgent crime in progress

Call 101 or report via our Website if the incident is not currently in progress

Please reference "OP CLOZE" to speed up the chain of your report getting to local Officers

Over the course of the summer we plan to; seize illegal E-Bikes, give advice to legitimate riders and to directly tackle offenders. The information that you could provide is absolutely key in making this happen.

Please remember;

If you are taking photos or videos, remember your safety is a priority and do not put yourself at risk to do so.

If you or someone you know rides an E-Bike, check whether it meets legal requirements under the EAPC scheme; EAPC standards and legal requirements - GOV.UK

If your E-Bike doesn't meet EAPC definitions, then it must be entirely Road Legal

Local officers are regularly patrolling the streets in your area - on foot, in marked Police cars and in unmarked cars.
